CUSTOM STONE KITCHEN SPLASHBACKS - TAUPO & HAWKES BAY
Kitchen splashbacks are an essential feature of any kitchen design. They protect the wall behind the stove and sink from spills and splatters and can also add style and personality to your kitchen. In some cases, they are the defining factor that ties in your kitchen’s finished look and style. Skipping a custom splashback is a missed opportunity to connect all of the new components of your kitchen and add elegance and that eye for detail that makes a kitchen exceptional.
WHAT IS A KITCHEN SPLASH BACK?
A kitchen splashback is a panel or section of material installed behind the stove and sink to protect the wall from stains and moisture. They can be made from a variety of materials, including tiles, glass, stainless steel, and more.
WHY DO YOU NEED A KITCHEN SPLASHBACK?
Kitchen splashbacks are a necessary feature of any kitchen, as they help to protect your walls from moisture and staining. This is especially important in areas around the stove and sink, where water, grease, and food can easily splash onto the walls.
In addition to their practical benefits, kitchen splashbacks are used to elevate the overall look and feel of your kitchen. They can be designed to complement your existing decor or add a pop of colour and interest to an otherwise neutral space.
CHOOSING THE RIGHT MATERIAL
When choosing a kitchen splashback for your Taupo or Hawke’s Bay home, it’s important to consider both practical and aesthetic factors. You’ll want to select a material that is durable, easy to clean, and resistant to moisture and staining. Additionally, you’ll want to choose a material that complements your existing decor and personal style. Our team can help you determine what material best suits your space, from tile to glass splashbacks.

KITCHEN SPLASHBACKS AND BENCHTOP COHESION
Tie in the materials and overall look of your kitchen by letting us create a beautiful splashback out of the same material, colour and finish as your benchtops. This choice to match creates an exquisite finish that looks cohesive and feels like a style choice, not an afterthought or ‘by default’ decision.
HYGIENIC SPLASHBACK SOLUTIONS
The last thing you want in your kitchen is to create more cleaning than necessary. When you make your decision about what kind of style and material you want for your splashback, also consider the cleaning implications. For example, a flat solid surface is quickly disinfected with a simple wipe down, while a tiled splashback with visible grout will need a little more love and care to retain its appearance and cleanliness over time. Porcelain, stone and glass splashbacks are a homeowner’s dream for their manageability.
ARE THERE ANY REGULATIONS FOR WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR SPLASHBACKS IN NZ?
You will need to mind the regulations put in place to keep your kitchen space safe around combustible surfaces (i.e. hobs), and we don’t recommend attempting to create your own splashbacks due to these regulations. There are in place to ensure your cooking experience carries as little risk as possible for you and your family. To comply with protective regulations, the splashback must stay less than 200mm from the edge of the nearest burner and 150mm or above the top of the edge of the burner.Â
Kitchen splashbacks are a critical feature of any kitchen design, offering both practical and aesthetic benefits. With so many different types and materials to choose from, you’re sure to find a splashback that complements your style and enhances the overall look and feel of your kitchen.
